School Tour
American Stage School Tour brings the finest children's literature to the stage. The 2012 School Tour will hit the road in September 2012 and run through November 2012. Rembrandt Takes a WalkBased on the book by Red Grooms and Mark Strand Tom is not pleased to leave his TV and snacks to visit his boring Uncle Morton. There is nothing to do in his big house except look at the art, and that is boring! When Tom goes looking for a bite to eat, the only food he can see is in the paintings…which look very real…and even taste very real… Rembrandt hops from his painting to help Tom see art through different eyes, and Tom helps Rembrandt see the excitements of modern life! “With humor that steers young viewers towards art appreciation… Rembrandt offers eye-candy and full-meal theater in one concentrated dose.” -City Pages, MN The 27th annual American Stage School Tour will reach over 18,000 K-5 students in Pinellas and Hillsborough County as well as surrounding REDI Counties; Counties designated by the State of Florida as being rural or economically disadvantaged. The School Tour visit has become an eagerly anticipated event by children and families across Tampa Bay. A Study Guide, following the Sunshine State Standards for educators, enabling them to make the show an active part of their curriculum, accompanies the production.
