Youth Classes invite artists of all levels to explore and develop their skills. These courses are offered in eight or 10 week sessions. American Stage Education fosters an accessible environment that encourages curiosity, collaboration, and a sense of belonging. Our teaching artist staff consists of working theatre professionals who are competent, trained in key methodologies, and have a passion for teaching.
$300 for 10 weeks / $250 for 8 weeks
Does your child sing and dance along in front of the television while watching a Disney animated classic? Well this is the class for them! Through group numbers from their favorite animated musicals, kids will learn how to sing and dance together as an ensemble. The class will end with an informal presentation of the songs explored in class.
Children will have so much fun re-imagining characters and scenes from their favorite stories and books! They will begin to use their bodies, voices, minds, and imaginations to bring these new stories to life all the while learning how to collaborate! The class will end with a final sharing of the stories explored in class.
Musical theater is more than just singing and dancing; it’s acting through a song. By using material from Broadway and movie musicals, your child will explore how to interpret a song and gain strong collaborative skills by working on group numbers. This class will culminate in a final sharing of their works in progress on the last day of the session for family and friends.
In this fun and creative class, kids will learn the basics for television and film acting by creating original commercials and scenes. Through acting techniques and scene analysis students will learn how to create characters that will jump off the screen.
Let your child discover the actor inside of them! This class is the first step to building confidence and a solid foundation in the art of acting. Students will learn basic theatre skills in a supportive and creative environment. Learn how to answer the questions all actors must ask before they even start a scene: Who? Where? What? Why? How? Students will share what they’ve learned in a final sharing for family and friends on the last day of the session!
Musical theater performance is more than just singing; it’s acting through a song. In this ongoing, multi-level training program for teens, these young artists will be immersed in the material from a contemporary or classical Broadway musical. Teens will not only explore how to interpret a song and gain collaboration skills by working on group numbers but they will also learn about the creators and the history of the material that they will work on. This class will culminate in a final sharing for their friends and family. (The Teen Ensemble or Teen Comedy Club are great companion classes for teens artists who are looking for a well rounded training experience)
Improvisation skills are the foundation of any successful performance. A dynamic performance relies on improv skills: teamwork, listening, spontaneity, and thinking quickly on your feet. Students learn the rules of improv by playing improv exercises and games to increase performance skills and awaken creativity. This class is excellent for students looking to boost self-confidence and positivity or for fans of the script-less performance. This class will end the session with a fun and hilarious final sharing.
Teens will explore how to apply the actor’s tools (body, voice, mind, and imagination) to take creative risks while building characters and making strong and exciting choices. Main class objectives: to build an ensemble, learn technique through a rehearsal process, and flexing the tools of the actor, students will use dramatic and comedic scenes and monologues. This class is designed as ongoing training for intermediate and advanced teen actors. Students will perform works in progress with family and friends on the last day of the session!

Through dynamic ensemble work and personal coaching fine tune your vocal and acting skills through song. This musical theatre scene-study course focuses on making strong choices toward discovering objectives, taking risks, and living in the moment through song. Outside partner work may be required. This class will culminate in a performance of works in progress for family and friends at the end of the session.
In this continuation to our beginning acting class, students will further their study of acting technique and character development through scene work while continuing to develop and hone the actors tools. Explore strong character choices, taking risks in a scene, and creating dynamic relationships between characters. Outside work is required for this class.
